So far my predictions are on the money.

Check out Marioni’s goal! An awesome heal kick ladies and gents!

Atlas beats Lanus in Argentina, while Liga took advantage of Quito’s altitude in a dark night for both Argentinian teams. Here is more…

Mexico’s Atlas defeated Lanus away by 1-0 on a great heal kick goal by Bruno Marioni. Lanus had actually been the only unbeaten team of the 16 teams that advanced to this stage of the Copa Libertadores. But Atlas erased all hopes Lanus may have had of remaining unbeaten and advancing to the next stage. Atlas now looks forward to the trip back to Guadalajara for the second game, which in my opinion should all but wrap up this series.

Liga of Quito dispatched the other Argentinian team that played tonight on goals by Jofre Guerrón and Damián Manso. Estudiantes of La Plata played a good first half but was unable to maintain their level in the second half when Jofre Guerron scored the first goal in a great individual play after taking on 3 markers. Now Estudiantes will need to make up for this loss in Argentina for what will be an exciting game. I still think Liga will prevail and meet the winner of the River Plate and San Lorenzo series.

Goal scoring leaders so far:

Bolivian Marcelo Martins Moreno of Cruzeiro with 8
Uruguayan Sebastián Abreu of River Plate with 6
Gustavo Biscayzacú of Colo Colo, Matías Urbano of Cúcuta Deportivo, Mauricio Molina of Santos, Ramires of Cruzeiro and Bruno Marioni of Atlas all have 5.
Kléber Pereira of Santos, Álvaro Pintos of Real Potosí and Salvador Cabañas of América all have 4
