It comes down to the last 4 teams in Copa Libertadores! Boca had tied with Atlas in Buenos Aires and I thought for sure Atlas would wrap it up in Guadalajara but an inspired Martin Palermo scored a hat trick to shock the whole continent. Here is more to include my predictions:
Fluminense beat fellow Brazilian team Sao Paulo who despite a goal from the "Emperor" Adriano were unable to hold on to the advantage they had. America lost versus Santos 0-1 but it wasn’t enough for the Brazilian who had lost 2-0 in the Azteca. Liga of Quito beat San Lorenzo on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in Ecuador.
Next week it will be Brazil vs Argentina and Mexico vs Ecuador. The winners will meet to define this years Copa Libertadores champion.
America will receive Liga of Quito in Mexico first. Both teams play in the altitude so they cancel each other out in that factor. But I will go with Liga only because my parents are from Ecuador, so I have to root for them and America did terrible in their local league while Liga is red hot.
I think Boca will defeat Fluminense, I’ve seen most of the games and Boca just seems like they have what it takes to be champions. They have Riquelme, Palacios and Palermo… need I write more?
It will be Liga de Quito vs Boca Juniors of Buenos Aires in the final. But, I dare say Boca will win this series and win the title.
Imagine, the champion of America Boca Juniors vs. Manchester United champion of Europe. Sounds like the game of the century!
